It was a rarity till yester year a formula one grid without the great Michael Schumacher. Well, it might be heart-breaking for hard-core schumi fans (myself one among them). But the sport has not lost the thrill and drama. The sport is in fact greater than any personality.
The Ferrari's gamble in this race with a newly modelled design for their car has worked out and they are looking stronger and faster than any other car on the circuit. Kimi heroics started in the final practice and continued till the chequered flag. He has completely dominated the race. He has perfectly adjusted to the new scarlet car and we may well witness some magic from him as the season progresses. Massa, I should say was unfortunate but he too showed dominance with the new car. Ferrari have a great car and new team of technical engineers. A good race strategy was required and they have done it by putting Massa on a one-stop strategy.
The next biggest competitor this season would be the McLaren's. They have two new drivers viz.. Alonso, the reigning world champion and Lewis Hamilton. Both were aggresive and they did commit few mistakes. But only time will tell whether they will be good enough for beating the Ferrari. They stand top on the constructors at this moment.
Talking about other teams, reigning Constructor Champion Renault too seem to have a promising car. But the drivers look wayward. Fisichella was the best of the two. But, the new comer Kovalanien drove as if he was learning to drive a F1 car. There were too many mistakes commited by the debutant. If Renault have to be competitive they need their drivers to deliver.
The dangerous moment of the race was when David Coulthard launched over Alexander Wurz. But that's what makes Formula 1 Racing so fascinating. Goodness gracious no damage to the drivers.
All in All, the race went on with huge drama, with some great overtaking manouvers and spins. This season just looks like an entertainment thriller. We have to wait and see what the Ferrari's deliver at Kuala Lumpur in three weeks time. Until then, Good Bye from my side.
